This Gluten & Sugar free apple crumble is delicious, and perfect when you want to impress your guests. It is also perfect for low-carb, keto, gluten free, sugar free and banting lifestyle.

RECIPE

Prep Time: 45 Minutes

INGREDIENTS:

(12 Small Pies or 1 Large)

 

CRUST

FILLING

  • 1 Tin (385 Gram) Unsweetened Pie apples
  • 50 Ml Currents
  • 10 Ml Chia Seeds
  • 30 Ml Walnuts, pieces
  • 5 Egg Yolks
  • 80 Ml Erythritol or any sugar substitute
  • 3 Ml Nutmeg
  • 3 Ml Cinnamon
  • 50 Ml Cream

TOPPING:

Grated Crust Mixture

 

METHOD:

  • Pre-heat the oven to 180°C.
  • Crush the Gracious Bakers Vanilla Biscuits and add the butter, coconut flour, nutmeg and cinnamon, blitz until it comes together.
  • Press 1/2 of the mixture into pie dish (+-20 cm) and place in the fridge to set for 15 minutes.
  • Wrap the other 1/2 of crust mixture and place in the fridge for later.
  • Remove the pastry dish from the fridge and pack the pie apples at the bottom of the dish, then the currents followed by the walnuts.
  • In a small bowl beat the egg yolks, erythritol, nutmeg, cinnamon & cream together with a fork and pour over the apples.
  • Remove the crust pastry from the fridge and grate the crust over the top of the apples.
  • Bake for 30 minutes until golden brown.
  • Allow to stand 10 minutes and serve with whipped cream.
